GAME IDEA PART DEUX

20's - 50's

Post-WWII era OR Cold War Era

Setting: Unnamed US city

A scientist believes he can create a city full of various people from different time periods and cultures who can get along. The problem, of course, is their upbringing. A team of friends help him manipulate the memories of the people into believing that they've all been brought up in this city.

Powers - still working on this. Potential of giving people powers if they want them. // Potential suppression of powers through drugs in food.

The government has authorized this experiment because they believe that if they can find the technology to completely overwrite a population and create something new, they can use it for the purposes of war. They can make people into soldiers. They, of course, withhold that information from the scientists because they want to keep things as simple as possible.

The scientists create the city and can insert themselves where they see fit, but they'll be taking the disguises of normal people. Actual governors, authority figures, etc. will not be part of the crucial NPC team.

How can memories be reattained?

Various ways.

1. Drugs on the street, if you want to go the cheap and hallucinatory route.
2. Dreams.
3. City-wide effect events.
4. Gifts from the one scientist (more on that later)
5. Reattaining memories manually through stressful situations that cause characters to question their ethics/morals/etc.

Can't my character leave?

Have you ever seen The Truman Show? Attempts to leave will be dissuaded. Eventually, if your character DOES leave, they'll be caught and contained for X amount of time. They will be given memories of a vacation but nothing will actually happen to them.

How were my memories erased/changed?

They were suppressed via...something. I'm working on it, okay?

Possible reasons:

1. Chemical, drug-related, etc.
2. Some other sci-fi coolio reason (think Dark City)

How AU can my character be?

Not very? Their lives should parallel enough for the game so their personalities don't deviate. However, if you want to take out/insert a character to give them motivation, go ahead.

My character is a bad guy. Would he be allowed into this scenario despite the idea that everyone has to live peacefully?

Yes! The good thing about this is that the city needs to resemble a normal one, so crime is an inevitable fact of life. People who will eventually cause trouble to the point that civilian life could be disrupted far longer than necessary, then specific actions will be taken. This would be a good opportunity for characters to become fractured, troubled, or psychotically pushed to the brink if that's your shtick. If not, it's a way to calm your character down until the next traumatic event.

What can I do in this city?

It's mostly slice of life until the scientists/government decide to push something into the city. You go about your "normal" lives and interact with the various things in the city. Deal with every day life or interact with the slightly sci-fi things that'll be shoved in there.

...I'm working on what those things are. Hush up.
