So something's been up lately. I got strep a couple weeks ago, and since then, things haven't been the same. I haven't been able to work out as long, I get really fatigued after a half hour. Before I was able to go an hour or more without a problem. I find myself completely EXHAUSTED after a day of work. Granted, it can get tiring but I've been totally drained. Every night I get at least 8 hours of sleep, yet I've been taking naps after work. They vary from a half hour to two hours. Last night I went to bed around 1, woke up today around 11. I mowed the lawn and helped my dad prime the garage doors and the side of the house for painting tomorrow. All the work took about 5 hours, not even as long as a normal work day for me. And I'm used to being very active, seeing that my days usually consist of driving around three kids and chasing each in different directions at the same time (okay I make it sound awful but it's really fun, seriously!). Anyway...so I came in around 4:30, took a shower, and checked my e-mail. By 5:45 I was passed out, as if I hadn't slept in a week. I slept for about an hour. But last night I got 10 hours of sleep! I really don't get it. And I could really fall asleep now if I wanted to.
Is my immune system still trying to recover from strep? After this long? I'm taking my vitamins, getting some extra vitamin C, and making sure to eat plenty of berries as antioxidants. I'm pretty active, too. I weighed myself this morning to see if maybe it was a result of a weight gain, but miraculously I weigh one pound less even after all the crap I've eaten this week (a bag of cheese crunchies, corn dog, Friendly's, and an Italian sub later). Maybe I'll completely cut the crap food out and see if I feel as great as I did before the strep. Aside from being tired in the afternoon, I feel fine. My skin doesn't have a single blemish on it. I mean, I have a fair share of mosquito bites and a spot of poison ivy (from my dead serious nature exploration...haha), but that doesn't count.
Has anyone else experienced this after being sick? I don't remember it ever happening to me. Maybe I'm still just trying to recover. It's going to remain a mystery I'm afraid.
Good news is I'm no longer pasty white thanks to all the time I've spent outside this week. Bring on the hot sunny days!
