I loved the Thor movie. I loved it even more than I loved Iron Man, which seems like sacrilege.
Seriously, this is what I call perfect casting. Thor, Odin, Sif, Warriors Three - they were all fantastic.
I've heard a lot of people complain about Idris Elba as Heimdall, but I thought he was great and gave the right vibe, so I easily got over the fact that he doesn't look Scandinavian and wasn't Sif's brother. And that coming from a person who's still bitter about them using Ultimate Nick Fury instead of the 616 one.
Then, there's Loki. Such a wonderfully complicated character, I enjoyed every second of his screen time. My non-comics-loving friends all adored him and I'm sure he just got himself a whole new fanbase.
All the Earth-bound scenes were... fun, I guess, but I'm pretty sure everyone only cared about what happened in Asgard. I am looking forward to seeing Skarsgard in the Avengers movie. And I like Portman, but sorry Jane, I'm a Thor/Sif kind of girl.
I think I'm the only one in my theater who recognized Hawkeye (no sir, I'm not a nerd, not one bit), but I thought it was a clever way of introducing him.
I also liked how Kenneth Branagh kind of left the possibility of using Don Blake in the future open.
But, unfortunately, no love for Balder. Sorry, couldn't help myself, I think Balder is a great character (thank you, Straczynski) and it's a pity he's so rarely used. I pretty much doubt that he'll make an appearance even if they decide to make a Thor sequel, but a girl can dream, right?
Anyway, post-credits scene. Do want.
