Post-Weekend
Alas, quoth_the_ravyn has returned to her native land, no doubt to get some well deserved rest after her vacation. :D
Hope you made it home ok, Rav! It was awesome seeing you! Sorry for being almost completely comatose when I said good-bye this morning.
All in all, it was a good weekend. Biltmore is a lot more fun when it's not deluged with tourists at Christmas. It's a lot less walking too, somehow. We visited downtown Asheville and checked out some shops. jane_drew_ has sworn revenge on Origami Ink for being closed during their supposed business hours. Normally, we only make it up there on Sunday when the place is closed. Today we were there on Saturday... and it was still closed. We're pretty sure the owners were snowed in somewhere. There was four inches on the ground.
In the wake of road-trip weekend, I've gotten some Official News.
My acceptance letter from Academy of Art University arrived. I'm officially accepted for the Fall 2010 semester. Mere words cannot describe how excited I am. It's been really hard keeping my mouth shut until I know more, but I had to tell someone. So I told Ex-Boss Lady, who is pretty much more a friend than a supervisor these day. She is thrilled for me... and also mentioned that this is coming at a good time. Apparently, the School is after the Library for more budget cuts.
Despite the fact that the Library has always been in the black, often giving money BACK at the end of the fiscal year, we still have to pick up the slack for other departments who can't mind their wallets so well. I'm looking at you, Marketing. Apparently the Dean was in, asking our Director what she can give.
The Library has been good to me. I hope things turn out OK.
