Mountains out of mole hills
So a few weeks ago while down in the Monterey area for my brothers wedding some dude backed into me while I was at a gas station. I ran in to the convenience store to grab some water real quick. When I was leaving I backed out of my parking space and as I was about to shift into drive when I saw one of the cars that was waiting for a pump backing towards me. As I was shifting into drive he hit me. It was a super slow speed bump but he was already so close to me that I could get out of the way. He just pushed in the rear quarter panel of the truck bed. No biggie I figured, I could just have a dent place push it back out and if it was cheap enough I would bother with insurance claims and such. We exchanged insurance info anyway. The truck is fine so I haven't made it a priority to find out how much it will cost to fix. Welp last night I get a call from my insurance company and this dude is filing a claim against me!!!! He is saying I backed into him and such. Ridiculous. My insurance dude took my statement and is coming out to look at my truck next week. He said if I wanted to give the guy a break I could contact him and let him know an investigation into his claim will be started if the damage to my truck is minor and it's consistent with him backing into me. Once they look at my truck it will be too late to back out of a full investigation. I swear some people are too much. His janky old truck had no damage at all. It had a big steel bumper.
