Thanksgiving Menu

Turkey Fried in Peanut oil
Pernil, pork butt slow cooked overnight in my oven. Two of these. This is the best stuff ever. I use some of the drippings to season the gravy. I poke holes all over the top of them and insert whole green olives and big pieces of crushed garlic cloves.
Honey Ham. I found a Paula Deen crunchy glazed ham for only $30 at the commissary!
Pasteles. In Puerto Rico these are very traditional for the holidays. I do not like them. At all. Too earthy. I am rude and call them "pastel-stankos".
Gravy. Best ever. Homemade from turkey and pork. NO giblets. Gross. I will fry those up for Fer. He will eat the yuckiest stuff.
Mashed potatoes with cream cheese. Doubling this recipe. I tried it for the first time last year. Best potatoes EVER. People who hate cream cheese (they do exist), have no idea that it's in there. I might try to make them the day ahead, The Pioneer Woman says you can.
Stuffing. Tonight or tomorrow I will make cornbread from scratch. It also has seasoned, toasted pecans, and TONS of Jimmy Dean sausage. Tons. This is the best stuff on the face of the earth. Really, it is. Ask Jimmy, I think he had it once, over ten years ago and he still talks about it. No recipe because it's ALL IN MY HEAD. Like the voices. I toast the pecans on top of the stove, in butter with Adobo seasoning salt.
Butter Flake Rolls
Green bean casserole. My friend Jana is bringing this. She brought it last year, that was the first time ever that we had it.
Marshmallow topped Yam stuff. I have never made this before. Fer mentioned that he likes it, so, for the first time in 19 years, I will make it for him!
Arroz con gandules. Rice with pigeon peas. Also very traditional in PR. I make it better than my mother in law, even she will tell you this.
Baked artichokes. I am making breadcrumbs from croissants for this. You can never be to rich or too buttery for Thanksgiving.
Canned cranberry jelly
Black olives. FOR FINGERS.
Banana pudding. Recipe from the Nilla Wafer box. I have never made this. I might try homemade mac & cheese for him too. idk.
PIES I cheated and bought Marie Calender's crusts. That shit is good.
Pecan. Three. Homemade
Pumpkin. Two. Frozen. I have attempted and been disappointed too many times trying to make this on my own. Mrs. Smith does an excellent job in this department.
Apple. Maybe two. Also homemade. Dutch. This is for Alexia.
Tres Leches. Not the cake, the custard. My good friend Marce is bring these. One with and one without nuts. She also might make a chocolate one. I'm not so sure about that.
Fantasy Fudge. This is still just a maybe.

Do you think this is enough food for 16 people? I think it probably is.
Ugh. Now that I look at it, I wish I had more side dishes.

food, people i know, public, holidays
