not a morning person

i am not conscious
before 8am
and i make poor choices
in the wee hours of the morning
so don't expect
anything of me

last night, i worked at the inn at virginia mason hospital. i washed dishes for the tiny little caffe inside. i enjoyed it a lot. it was one of the best jobs i've done for hallmark. everybody was like family. the chef kept handing me food to sample. he gave me cheese and icecream and pasta.

one of the waitresses was from portland, five weeks ago.

one of the other waitresses took a smoke break every fifteen minutes and said to everybody "i need to smoke something!" but she insisted it was just a cigarete. sure!

the cook was chinese and had a thick accent. i think chinese men sound like scooby do. he was nice and joked a lot. after i washed the dishes, he showed me where they went.

"if they have a hole in them, they can hang around here!" he said. and it was funny to everybody.

he also liked talking about making babies.

"babies arn't going to help me do my homework when i'm in school," i told him.

the only bummer was when i went back to the parkinglot and found a pay stub for $12. i guess the gate guard left and just assumed that i would be paying for my parking spot? i don't think so. i'm pissed.

today, i worked at parker paint again. i showed up an hour late. they actualy called another guy out to replace me but then their normal guy was sick so they still needed my anyway.

this time i worked at parker paint in north seattle as aposed to south seattle. it was the polar oposite in every way. jason was so laid back and he didn't care what i did. here, don kept me working. he always had something for me to do.

i worked alongside a black guy who didn't speak english very well. he was also kind of slow and really stubborn. he insisted on loading the hand trucks up his own way and he insisted on doing the paperwork even tho he didn't know how to read it.

when the day was over, the boss told the black guy not to come back tomorrow and he told me to come back tomorrow even tho he was a far better worker than i was. i showed up an hour late!

life is unfair and it depresses me even when it's unfair in my favor.
