on the l'amour

At tonight's Erato meeting we all brought a poem of our own, typed and without overt indications of author. These were shuffled among the few of us, and we read the poem in our hands and then tried to figure out who wrote it. It was fun. I don't generally sit around and write poems in my spare time, so I had to create one specifically for this evening. It's not really true right now, but maybe it will fit someone out there in LJ Land.

=====

i love you with big words!

eternal adoration all-encompassing...

passionate, obsessive, enchanting.

unrequited.

me.

if i loved you any more,

i'd have to move to Germany.

There were three votes that the leader of the group, Andrew, had written it (actually, one of those votes was me being tricky). One person thought a guy named Mike had written it, which makes sense, as he and I have similar styles, save the fact that I'm a bit less derivative and more restrained. And there was one vote that it was in fact mine. As it is.

Before Erato, there was working on Statics HW. Which is done enough for me. The last problem is a pissa'.

Before homework there was lab, which consisted of our TA telling us what we would be seeing on the screen if the scanning electron microscope were not malfunctioning. Bit of a bummer, but by next week it should be functioning, and it's up to each of us to try and get an image on it. Which is a process that looks a bit like science you'd expect in an old scifi movie. There's a flickering cathode ray tube screen surrounded by switches and knobs and guages, and the best they can tell us is "play with these four knobs until an image pops up. It will almost be like magic." It's an electron microscope that requires foreplay, basically.

I've got a circuits test later today. It's not really bothering me. I'm making a cheat sheet right now. We're allowed anything we can fit on one side of an 8.5x11" page. I think if I have any space left I'll draw a monkey.

Good day.
