"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.  If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therfore the world hateth you.  Remember the word that I said unto you, serpant is not greater than his lord.  If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you;  if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.  But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me."  John 15:18-21

As I spoke with a friend, or someone I once thought was a friend we spoke of our different beliefs.  Actually I was more or less asking questions about buddhism to more or less gain knowladge to further test my faith.  I did this more or less trying to not state anything about my own views, because of the fact a discussion with some can very likely turn into an argument for one reason or another.  It doesn't make anysense how someone can believe in something without knowing the facts of their own and others beliefs, and then denying the facts when thrown at them for they know it will crumble what they have come to know.  How can someone put such faith in there beliefs and then be so ignorant.  Knowladge is infact power.
Now I was reading articles this person put in front of me regarding the Lotus Sutra, which is a book of teachings of Siddartha Guatarma, the founder of Buddhism.  Now I was reading some of this mans teachings and it seemed to me like this man was making himself out to be that of a god.  "Because of the befuddlement of ordinary people, though I live, I give out word I have entered extinction. For if they see me constantly, arrogance and selfishness arise in their minds. Abandoning restraint, they give themselves up to the five desires and fall into the evil paths of existence. Always I am aware of which living beings practice the way, and which do not, and in response to their needs for salvation I preach various doctrines for them."  This man makes himself out to be better then that of others, and then states that if they see him often they will have an exagerated sense of themselves and will be selfish in there own minds.  "I am always here, but through my transcendental powers I make it so that living beings in their befuddlement do not see me even when close by."  Then this man also states that through his spiritual powers he makes it so that people can not see him in there confusion.  Why would he want that?  Wouldn't it be better to say that he is revealing himself atleast, but they accept him not in there confusion?  "When the multitude see that I have passed into extinction, far and wide they offer alms to my relics. All harbor thoughts of yearning and in their minds thirst to gaze at me."  This man never says that he is a god but makes himself out to be like one.  He wants nothing but self righteousness.
What I am getting at is that I stated this to someone, and they immediatly said something along the lines that we make Jesus out to be a god, and worship him but he is only a person.  Now of course this is wrong, but unfortunatly this person spoke without facts.  We do believe Jesus was a person, we do believe that we should make the words of Jesus and the acts of Jesus well known, and we also believe that Jesus is God, because he says so in the bible.  "Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If though be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angles charge concerning thee:  and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time though dash thy foot against a stone.  Jesus said unto him, It is wrtten again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."   Now I basicly stated that what this person said about Jesus was false to what we believe, and that we actually believe Jesus is God and that he states it himself.  This person then wanted to end the conversation, and no longer wanted to talk to me.  Basicly you believe what you believe, I believe what I believe.  All I have to say though is know the facts, or atleast admit to being wrong.  SHOW YOUR FAITH!  Test your own faith.  Only in tribulation and error can we truly know where our faith stands.  Now the only way to truly know that Jesus is God is to read into the scriptures and make that decision for yourself.  The old testament was written roughly around 1000 years before this man wrote his teachings.   Then Jesus came and fullfilled the prohpecy of it.   If you want answers check out www.carm.org
