guess i'll talk about our trip
we had a great time. i picked up ashwin and sarah late thursday night and we drove to charlotte where we stayed at kramer's. i felt kinda bad for sarah cause ashwin and i reminsced the whole way to charlotte, but it was nice to remember stuff that i'd forgotten about. i had printed out all these directions to sarah's house, to kramer's house, to the hotel, to the game...and an hour into the trip, ashwin spilt icee all over it. good thing he had this awesome gps program on his phone that talked to me and told me where to turn and merge and whatnot. we got to kramer's around midnight and we went downstairs and watched monster's inc. good movie, but i was pretty sleepy so i went to bed and read a little before going to sleep. i didn't sleep very well though because i was so excited about going to chattanooga the next day. ashwin on the other hand had no problem getting to sleep and i listened to his delightful snoring for a few hours. oh well.
we woke up on friday at ten so that we could be on the road by 11. kramer's mom was adorable and offered to make us any kind of breakfast we wanted, but none of us were hungry yet so we declined. we got on the road and then realized that ashwin had thrown away the directions and even though we had the gps system, we still needed the addresses for the stadium and our hotel. so we had to go back to kramer's to get the addresses. after that we were on our way. we stopped at bo's and had a yummy breakfast and then drove some more. sarah and kramer slept a lot so it was mostly just ashwin and me talking and singing to the music. we stopped in cocke county tennessee to go to the bathroom and that was an interesting stop. there was a trailer directly behind the bathrooms and the door was wide open and this man was just sitting in the doorway staring at us. that was weird.
turns out i'm not the best driver and i get add pretty bad when i drive long distances. the results of this were that i hit a box, i drifted into other lanes, and i drove with my forearms. about an hour out of cleveland there was a traffic jam and we were stopped on the highway and we saw a cool dead hawk which kramer took pics of. when we got to the hotel we checked in and then left to go to the game. we parked in a parking deck and walked what seemed like miles to the game. we saw the line out of one gate and it was about a mile long and so that scared me, but it turned out the will call line was really short and the gate we went into had virtually no line at all. our seats were in the endzone, and they were a little crappy, but whenever the action was in our end zone, we had awesome seats. the game was amazing, i heart appalchian football. we sat next to a bunch of drunks and when they did that fighter jet fly over, it scared the shit out of them and so they all fell. we had a good laugh at that one. ashwin left us at halftime to sit with jeremy and reuben and i was sad cause i wanted to see reuben, but oh well.
i got to rush the field at the end of the game, and that was pretty awesome since i didn't get to do that last year. 'tis been nice not being in the band this year. i saw the chancellor and a few key players and that was pretty awesome. again, i love appalachian football.
after the game we went back to the hotel with pitstops at taco bell, mcdonalds, and a gas station. at mcdonalds, i made a fool of myself in the drivethru by singing the chilis barbeque sauce line when i was asking for barbeque sauce. and at the gas station, i was hit on by a very drunk old man. "you're awful purty. you just made my night how purty you are. you married? you like to party?" yeah that wasn't awkward. Back at the hotel we started drinking and it was fun. sarah and i walked downstairs to get a deck of cards and were hit on by the front desk clerk who was also drunk. we finally got cards at a gas station where i paid in coins and my math turned out to be horrible. we played one card game and then we were all pretty tired so we went to sleep. we woke up at 10:30 and checked out and started to drive back. we stopped in knoxville for some olive garden which was pretty damn good. kramer and sarah slept most of the way home. after we dropped kramer off, we drove to chapel hill and dropped sarah off and then ashwin and i went home. all in all it was a great trip and i was sad when it was over. but i wasn't sad that i was finished driving. on saturday i drove for a total of 9 hours. crrrazy.
so that was my trip. now i'm in boone to work a little before christmas. my stomach feels funny and i have a cold.
