adventures in babysitting

so tonight i babysat. this is the...fifth babysitting job this week and boy am i raking in the cash..not too shabby. really bad part of the night, i dropped the baby on its head. wowzers. but he was ok, it wasn't too far of a fall and to be fair, he really kinda jumped out of my arms...not really fall. he only cried for like...a minute. so i didn't tell his parents cause it didn't seem to major i think he was more cranky than in pain. but if i show up at church tomorrow and they're pissed...i'll know why...they proabably discovered a massive bruise on their infant son's forehead...my bad...i'm really a lot better with kids than i was tonight. guess i'm still tired from yesterday.

speaking of yesterday. chaperoned natalie's seventh grade band trip to carowinds. let me just say this...why go to an amusement park with all of your friends that love roller coasters and you refuse to go on them? i mean seriously..it doesn't make sense. but it worked out in the end..the girl that hated roller coasters found others that hated them as well. but it made for a frustrating morning. but the most frustrating part of the day was when i had a boy in my group who has the worst case of add/social immaturity i've ever seen. i swear to you at one point he paid for his lemonade and then went into a souvenir shop before the woman gave him his lemonade...what the heck. he also decided around four oclock that his left leg was no longer in use and limped/dragged the leg behind him the rest of the day. he insisted on wearing his heavy winter coat all day. he kept asking me if i thought his voice had changed. he also had a straw that when you blow into it, it makes a very high pitched whistle which was just LOVELY when you had a piercing headache. the best part of it was when we got back to rogers herr he asked me what would happen if his "guardians" weren't planning on picking him up for another hour. i promptly marched him to the band director and left. i was done.

one thing that amused me a lot was the bus ride home. there was some MAJOR middle school drama. the short story is that john was katie's first crush but now john is dating brittany and nobody has the heart to tell katie yet. but on the bus ride home stacy (a random eighth grader that "NOBODY likes") stood up and yelled that katie loved john. it made for an intense bus ride home. this all happened on another bus, but my girls found out via cell phones and so there were a lot of calls back and forth the whole way home. at one point one of my girls got on the phone with katie and was very disappointed to hear that katie was actually ok with it. the girl kept saying things like, but aren't you DEVASTATED?? it was really amusing. and it made me think. when i look at them now i wanna just be like...you're only in middle school. seven years from now you'll sit at a picnic table with other friends and say things like "oh yeah, katie DID like john! i forgot all about that!" and it won't seem like such a big deal. it'll also happen in high school. "i forgot so and so dated". so, seven years from now will we all be saying things like that? "oh yeah! vdp lost on a coin toss" or "oh yeah, i forgot that they dated and 'ruined' my year". I wonder. it's nice how middle schoolers help you put things into perspective. hopefully, i'll keep this in mind everytime i check away messages.

other than that, i had a great time with natalie and rode a lot of coasters i'd vowed i would never ride i.e. the hurler...i mean...the name says it all. but i rode it and was very proud of myself. i also got to ride my favorite ride (the one that looks like a ferris wheel, but it goes really fast and you go upside down). nobody else has said they'd ride it with me but natalie said she would and we really liked it. afterwards, i pointed out the spot where jeremy threw up the last time that i'd ridden it (haha poor jeremy, that was probably the longest day of my life). natalie and i were a little disappointed that we didn't get to ride the borg ride so we decided that we'd make a trip this summer to an amusement park and we've chosen kings dominion. the price is really good...so...yeah. lol.

ok i'm done...i've got nursery duty at 8:30 tomorrow, then sunday school, then the 11:00 service...so yeah i should get to bed...

sorry for the insanely long update.
