(but today you up and left me wanting more)

Ok. So I'm sitting in our weekly little team meeting at the coffee shop this afternoon and somehow, the conversation comes around to Dallas, Texas. So then B starts talking about how she was there last year and the cab driver explained a local law to her and now I want to know if it's true. And I figure there are enough Texas people on the flist to set me straight.

Is it true, that in Dallas, you can get booked/arrested for walking home drunk??? Like a DUI, but for walking?  Apparently the cab driver told her you can and even if your IN the cab and it gets pulled over, you can still be asked to get out of the cab and then when you are standing on the sidewalk, BAM! You get booked!

Is this really true or was the cabbie playing some mean "let's freak out the Aussie tourist" game? Plus, if it is true, is it enforced? And if it true, why do you have this law? I'm so intrigued!

work, strange but true
