Excerpts from Seth Grahame-Smith's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Grand Central Publishing, March 2010 edition.
p 71, shortly after Abe woke up rescued, bandaged, and tied up in Henry's bed:
"He had killed the vampire woman. Not to save me from death, but to save me for himself."
At this point, Abe probably thought that Henry had snatched dinner from another vamp, but as the book goes on, and I'm only halfway through, that Henry had saved Abe for himself was so true!
While Henry nursed a tied up Abraham back to health, he also read to him in bed...Selected Works of William Shakespeare (emphasis added by me):
p 72:
"As he read, I tried to occupy my mind with trivial thoughts. Withsongs or stories of my own creation. Anything but give this vampire the satisfaction of my attention."
p 74:
"The more I came to know of his mind, the more I began to consider the possibility that he had no murderous designs on me."
p138:
"Your beloved Henry is noless deserving of that ax than the rest of us,"...."He merely had the good fortune of finding you fir---"
