It might seem like women's fashion have more variety than men's, and in terms of styles, yes, but all variety is confined within the limits that 'looking pretty / accessible' trumps function, ALWAYS. Fuck those suspenders heels, fuck them, it'll be alright if super high heels were an OPTION, but it's the default. It's nearly impossible for me to find women's shoes that have no heels, which is what I wear. I'm sick of the multiple times a salesperson ask if I need help, and I ask if they have men's shoes in my size, and they ask, "but you are a woman / why don't you want woman's shoes", and I ask if they have anything without heels, and they start proselytizing the benefits of high heels in adding height, looking pointedly down at me if they happen to be taller. Then I said, "but high heels tips me forward and I don't like that, please tell me if there are men's shoes my size, internal 'lifts' optional?". Mostly likely I would have pretended that my cellphone is ringing and excused myself already.

Srsly, I need new dress shoes. I LOVE what the men have, it looks classy, and it's well padded so it's comfortable to walk long distance in as well, but my feet is just a bit too small for most of it.
