Never knew him personally, but he was that funny oldfag who was around - until he wasn't, two halloweens ago, and all along even when he was around, he was already planning to leave, like so:
ODB was a noted 50 year old English asshole who could make you laugh. He had been saying he was going to kill himself for a long time, but was waiting for his cats to die so nothing was depending on him.

Just something that I thought about, after rereading parts of The Sandman: Endless Nights, in the 4th portrait of despair, there was a man who was depressed for a long time, and he had these cats in his trailers, and just, more cats, until he leaves to cross the country, "thinking he'll come back to feed them on the weekend, and knowing that he won't".
