I've been meaning to watch that movie for a while, because, David Spade! I loved him when he was Dennis Finch on Just Shoot Me.
The movie was very heart warming, it's about Dickie Roberts, a very fucked up former child star, who rented a room with a Normal Family so he'll know what normal is like for an upcoming part. The father George is a super jerk, the kids are nice, and Grace is a super mom.
Grace played a role that Dickie Roberts needed and was lacking all his life, a mother figure, it seriously tugged at my heartstrings when Grace sang Dickie the Mocking Bird song after he had a nightmare. Dickie said that it's nice, that a mother will do something to make her child feels better when the child is upset.
The movie, should have ended, after Grace kissed Dickie on the cheek goodbye, after he got his part, and was heading to Hawaii. It didn't, it decided to go for the Full Happy Ending shizzit, with Dickie becoming Rich And Famous...and marrying the love of his life, Grace. He married his mom. That is wrong on so many levels.
At least in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, if there is a Mayor/Faith sexual relationship, which I highly doubt because the point of Faith's loyalty to The Mayor was that he rejected her sexual advances by reminding her that he's a family man, he'll be there for her; as her father figure. At least if Faith ended up with The Mayor, it can be chalked up to the both of them being evil and psychotic, but I thought Grace was supposed to be the supermom? Shouldn't she /know/ how fucked up that is? I thought Dickie got healthy enough at the end of the movie to /know/ how FUCKED UP THAT IS!
On the brighter side, TBS is playing Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004) at 8pm tomorrow, I've been meaning to see that movie since it was mentioned in the 24 fandom. I thought that terrorist Ahmed guy was cute (he totally should have ran off with Scott to Canada and get married instead of doing the suicide bomber hting), and his actor, Kal Penn, plays Kumar, the movie is about two potheads and their quest for a hamburger after they got the munchies, it looked cute in the previews. It will also play again on Sunday, 6:15pm and 10:30pm, I kinda do like how TBS plays their movies over and over again...
If any of you is ever in Toronto, or in Toronto for that matter, totally give Johnny's Charcoal Broiled Hamburgers a try, just the burger though, the other stuff are well, meh, and bring your own coffee, or better yet, take the burger home because the only thing to sit on there is a bench. I know it's on Victoria Park, but I can't remember if it borders Steeles or Warden...and now I want one even though it's 12:54am, blah.
