In the China-Taiwan conflict thing, I have been very much siding with Taiwan. I believe that China and Taiwan are connected to each other, but at this point, it would be foolish to argue whether or not Taiwan (the democrat region) belongs to China (the communist), because it could also be the other way around. I believe that instead of declaring complete independence, Taiwan should have declared complete judicial independence; that the government in Mainland China have absolutely no legal say over its matters and vice versa.
History Short: During the civil war, the communist party fought the democratically elected (though corrupted...) government, all the way off Mainland, but aided by the separation of the sea, the democrat party kept Taiwan.
I've been siding with Taiwan, because I really disapprove of how China's been handling this, "Honey if you leave I'll shoot you" doesn't exactly contribute to harmony.
...but that still doesn't excuse Taiwan getting closer to the Japan, who during WWII committed mass scale war crimes upon China, Hong Kong, and other Asian countries (Korea). Japan who to this day, are going with the route of "I didn't do it but if I did she deserved it", they are still accusing a lot of the 'comfort women' of being paid whores who were consenting.....and a majority of comfort women were below eighteen, that loli-con in Japanese culture thing really goes far back huh? To this day, I still have to continue to pray every time Junichiro Koizumi pays his respects to the shrine of the rapists and torturers that if there is a god after all, he'll fall and crack his face upon its steps.
Today, I read in the Ming Pao, that history textbooks in Taiwan are glossing over the
Nanking Massacre, the official response was, they simply didn't have the space to include it. Ha.
It's one thing for Japan, the criminal in question, to pretend that it didn't happen. Taiwan on the other hand, independent government aside, is still Chinese, they should know how much this hurts because they were there too.
