Let us have a moment of thought for the tragedy that have befallen Jesus Christ on this Black Friday...

...and let us always remember, the consequences of forgetting your safe word!

I am a Christian. I don't get pissy about religious humour much, but jokes about the martyrdom on the cross aren't really in good taste, esp today.

What is it about today? It's not like we don't already know what's going to happen on Monday...or rather Sunday, already happened, if the bible was real:

He was born, he lived, he was nailed (painful...but it can't be as bad as the Spanish Inquisition)...died...had three days' of rest, and then popped back up again to wave his friends goodbye before going home...ALMOST over 2000 years ago...and therefore, should have gotten over it already.

Actual historical dates aren't of importance; today is the day that the rememberance is set, as the date is not of course known. If you don't get the significance of considering the event and what it means as it unfolded over the week, day by day, then you don't.

Well, I guess I don't.

It was just about Easter eggs and Spring to me as a child in HK, in spite of my Aunt being Christian...and then, it was a source of gothic tales when I got older...and then present day, lulz...because it just doesn't mean anything solemn to me so the supposed holiness of it...well, it just invokes inappropriate humour that I could enjoy because I don't get it.

It's just an important week to re-evaluate. It's actually a pretty horrible thing to really think about, and even people who don't believe that Jesus was the Son of God can surely feel impressed by a man who was martyred in the belief that his death would pay the debt of everyone's sin, especially since people weren't exactly being very nice to him. I think most people don't have the capacity for that kind of conviction and forgiveness, so...it's an impressive thing to contemplate. Sunday is celebration day. I might even have a choccy egg, even though it doesn't really have anythinbg to do with the resurrection; it's chocolate! :D

Today I am not planning to go to church, as I don't really do organised religion. (My friend sea_cucumber is planning on spending the entire Easter weekend in her congregation pretty much and she's still not quite sure she's found the right church for her! :D) But I will be thinking about this a lot today.

I'm kinda impressed by his capacity for forgiveness, but since he did get to come back to life and then live forever, in heaven, does that count? Yeah, he's one of the good ones, standing up in the face of corruption, but in suffering, he definitely didn't have it as bad as the guy who's getting his heart eaten out by an eagle for all eternity!

..and the thing is...even if he's real...as recent as last decade...I will still find some humour about it...especially if most other people take it seriously, I'm a fan of ED and LJ Drama remember? The LJ Drama that did a write up a girl who seriously tried to kill herself, and the ED that features this 9/11 article.

Just because stuff are tragic, and I do think about them, doesn't mean that I can't find some lulz in it when there are, usually involving irony.

Irony, or crude sexual humour, I mean, come on, did you hear the joke about why Jesus was "The Man"?

It's because he was hung "like this". *makes motion of the hanging thing...this joke is best told IRL*
