This early springtime is brought to you by GLOBAL WARMING!

Seriously, it'll rain tonight, but it was a sunny morning, and it's going to be a sunny week. It's fucking January, the park is all green now. I know I whine about winter a lot, but this kind of weather isn't natural, this isn't good for the health of our lands at all. If this isn't a Torontonian Fluke (meaning autumn-fake-winter-fake-WINTER), summer of 2006 is going to suck, because if your winter gets too warm, guess what? Summer is going to be even hotter.

I prefer my four seasons to be well defined, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Cold 2 and 1/2 - 3 months of winter with storms in the middle. A thoroughly frozen period in winter is important, else wise there will be too many bugs the next year, and the crops are going to suffer. A consistent winter is important, else wise the trees don't get to rest, and waste their energy with new shoots during the fake only to be killed by WINTER again.

I wonder how the Inuit people far up north are doing? That and the seals, because while they are kinda overpopulated and killing the codfishes right now, they could still one day become an important resource again for Inuit life and commercial harvest. While yeah, seals can be over hunted, the most we have to worry about is actually their habitat.

There is also this type of mountain goats up north, but not as far north as the perpetually frozen north, that eats this kind of lichens that are well, getting killed off by the increased heat. I remember this from high school biology class, I just can't remember if it was the Nelson textbooks or the teacher.

ETA: I think it's probably the Taiga Cordillera ecozone, see Canada's Ecozones - SpaceForSpecies.
