What is it you dislike about lammies specifically? I don't understand why they would make me cry... And this is likely to be a fairly lammy-heavy system, so it would be a big change to get rid of them, and I'd thus need a good rationale for doing so.
Dodges - I have no problem with them. If you don't have them it means ranged attacks automatically hit. And I don't like ranged attacks that automatically hit. I like people diving for cover and (literally) dodging a bullet sometimes. That said, I can see your reasoning for removing parries. And subdue damage. We weren't too sure on subdue damage in the first place.
Lammies... we will think about. And see how much of a headache they cause at playtest. And whether what we could replace them with would be a bigger headache.
Bows + Arrows currently are obsolete tech. We don't envisage anyone bringing them along, so ranged attacks won't actually have a physical component. It was one of the things that was suggested in the ref discussion last night was that dodges were only for ranged attacks, but no decision has yet been made.
What's the difference between what you've outlined for explosions and what we already have? Other than having all ranged attacks automatically do strikedown - which won't be possible, because of various possibility on the tech tree, eg, I don't imagine a freeze ray doing strikedown.
Frequency of combat will entirely depend on the game session. But it's possible that characters will often be on full hits by the time combat starts. We're going for Heroic and Cinematic in general, so this is ok. Dodges (however much you hate them) will not refresh, however. They are "per event".
"mass" can be used for various things; not all of which will involve falling over. To say much more is a bit foip.
Parries - ok, I can see an argument for scrapping them.
You will know something is an explosion/cannon-fire the same way you'll know someone's hitting you with a sword or an axe. It will be big and obvious.
The skill re: shields is if you have the parry skill you can use a shield instead of a weapon to parry with. Bad wording maybe?
