So Ms Bain was here this weekend. We had a nice visit--doing some shopping, eating some good food. Saturday morning she went to stay with another friend for her last night. I went over to Dan's that morning. Saturday night we went out to the movies at a nice theatre nearby in Kew Gardens, Queens. We went to see "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, and directed by Sidney Lumet. Fan-tastic. I definitely recommend it. We had not gone out to the movies since we saw "Sicko." It was a nice change of pace for a Saturday night.

Yesterday we had a very busy day. We went to Long Island to visit his mother, then had lunch at the Lido Beach deli--a true Jewish deli. Very good food. We had all the cole slaw and pickles we could eat, plus our sandwiches and french fries with gravy. Mmm.

After that we rushed back to Queens to drop off some things to the apartment and then headed out to Jersey for a belated bday surprise....He'd gotten us tickets to see Bon Jovi, with Daughtry as the opening act! It was a lot of fun--quite a crowd. It was at the Prudential Center in Newark. It's a brand new space, opened just a couple weeks ago when Bon Jovi's string of 10 concerts began. The people of NJ LOVE Jon. Phew. Dan's still pretty much handicapped with his ankle/leg/foot. Our seats were up in a higher section, but when we got there we spoke with some people and they were able to get Dan a wheelchair and wheeled him to a handicapped section a little lower--so we were able to sit the whole time with no one standing in front of us. Plus we were closer to the stage. The security lady working in our area was a smaller version of Missy Misdemeanor Elliot--and she was completely breaking it down to some Bon Jovi--it was quite a sight!

After the show this very nice young man wheeled him all the around the center all the way back to the car in the handicapped/vip lot behind the center. We got to see some of the back routes of the center. The Jersey Devils, I believe, play there. There are flatscreen tv everywhere you turn. It's very nice. I've never been to a brand-new complex before.

Dan let me drive to and from, so I was just a'cruisin down the Jersey Turnpike and across the GW bridge after midnight. That was the quickest trip home ever. No traffic at all. Amazing. We still didn't get to bed until almost 2:00 am. I haven't been to bed that late in a while!
