i was sitting in union square park on thursday. a beautiful, sunny day. the benches were full, yet i'd found a nice shady seat. i was reading the paper, and the next thing i know i was hit by a frisbee, thrown by a little tyke in the kiddy playground across the way. luckily i survived, but the kid did it several more times, nearly decapiating several people. then an attractive, well-dressed young man from ghana sits down and starts chatting. i make small talk with him, and after a few minutes pass he turns to the guy on the other side of him and says "i can't believe you just did that!" i had no clue what he was talking about, so i ask him "what's wrong?" i had no idea what the young guy was gonna do. you never know. so apparently the gentleman had passed gas. a natural function, you know. anybody would play it off. but the young man wouldn't let him live it down. it was so awkward, but luckily (with perfect timing, as always) dan text msgd me and asked if i wanted to grab a quick coffee. of course i answered "yes" and said my goodbyes, glad to be out of that crazy moment.
