2010 NC Steampunk Calendar & Links

The following North Carolina Triangle area events (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and beyond) either have a steampunk theme or include activities of interest to our readers. I've also included links to local steampunk interest groups below. If you have any additions, corrections or updates, please post a comment.

EVENTS

Mondays 11 PM-1AM - The Clockwork Cabaret Radio Show & Podcast
The Clockwork Cabaret is a weekly radio show hosted by the Davenport sisters, Emmett and Klaude, on WCOM 103.5 FM-LP in Chapel Hill/Carrboro, NC, playing the "Music o' Gears" for Steampunk ears, an anachronistic style of music including a wide assortment of jazz, blues, goth, folk, swing, gypsy punk, dark cabaret, classical and other related genres.  Click here to listen live or visit their podcast archive to listen to all of the shows anytime.  Click here to read the Dieselpunks.org interview with Emmett and Klaude.

May 14 (Fri) Jonathan Coulton w/ Paul & Strom at Lincoln Theatre - Raleigh, NC

May 22 (Sat) 3PM-Midnight - NC Costumed Groups Cookout, hosted by Padrhaig - Raleigh, NC

May 28-30 (Fri-Sun) - Animazement - Raleigh, NC
A convention (con) that celebrates popular Japanese visual culture in all of its forms.  Of particular interest will be the costuming and cosplay panels and contest, artists, vendors, and probably a steampunk track.  Note:  The event schedule is usually finalized in the week preceding the con.  The event is held in the Raleigh Convention Center in downtown Raleigh (click here for location / local details).

June 3 (Thurs) Reverend Horton HeatCrackerThe Legendary Shack Shakers at Cat's Cradle - Carrboro, NC

June 4-6 (Fri-Sun) - Con Carolinas - Charlotte, NC
A general multi-genre multi-media convention, covering speculative fiction - science fiction, fantasy and horror and hosting a variety of fandom related events and guests, including gaming, discussion panels, costume and music events.  Of interest are the Time Traveler's Ball and the Con Carolinas Costume Contest.  Here's a link to the programme schedule (scroll down).

June 9 (Thurs) 7-10 PM - Sherlock Holmes - An Evening Steampunk Picnic - Cary, NC

July TBA (Sat) 9PM-2AM-ish - The Clockwork Ball - Pittsboro, NC
A bi-monthly evening event hosted by DJs Emmett & Klaude Davenport, occasionally featuring a variety of musical guests, DJs, performers and vendors.  If the next one falls on schedule, it should happen around the first week of July, though I'm wondering if it will be moved, since that's 4th of July weekend.  (I'll update this listing as soon as it's confirmed.)  The event has been hosted in a number of different venues and is currently settled in at Davenport and Winkleperry in downtown Pittsboro, NC.  Click here for Google Map.

"The largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe."
