I knew this was going to happen here in my home state of Alabama, but I have to laugh at the comments of utter morons like Joseph Rempert, Jr.

This is what we're up against, folks.

It isn't surprising at all, but still disheartening. On the flip side, there are Alabamans who opposed such an amendment, and I doubt Alabama has that many people who are super liberal.
The amendment also probably helped Moore's numbers, even though he was soundly defeated.

Sure, it helped Moore's numbers, but he still lost hands-down, thank God. No pun intended.
Alabama doesn't have that many super liberal people. I'm one of the few.

I agree with you on Moore. He's plain old batshit crazy!
And because there can't be that many super-liberal Alabamans, it tells me that there are some moderates who opposed the amendment, and that is a positive sign. I'd think that even 20-30 years ago such an amendment would have likely had near universal support, at least in the deep south.
It's interesting how these things pass so overwhelmingly in the south. They pass everywhere pretty much, but it's even moreso in southern states. Which makes sense considering the Bible Belt...but even though Republicans have dominated southern politics for the most part in the last couple of decades, many local and state leaders are Democrats and oftentimes people register as Democrats (conservative as they may be) out of tradition.
I don't mean anything by it, other than that it's interesting and shows how divided political parties can be by region.
