The U.S. Senate voted this morning 63-33 to
end debate on the Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal. The House passed the same legislation 250-174 earlier this week, and the Senate will have a final vote on the matter at 3PM EST (two and a half hours). The vote largely fell along party lines, but Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) voting against ending debate and Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Susan Collins (R-ME), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Scott Brown (R-MA), Mark Kirk (R-IL), and George Voinovich (R-OH) voting with Senate Democrats.
After the repeal is signed into law, there will be a 60 day waiting period until it goes into effect.
