Boy bullied for being a cheerleader

I was late to work this morning because as I was about to leave, this came on:

The boy's sexual orientation is not in question, but the root of the bullying points back to homophobia or simply because he's a boy doing stuff only for girls.

In more tragic news, a 5th gay youth has committed suicide. His name is Raymond Chase, he was from Rhode Island.

What is it with the string of gay suicides lately? Or is it because the media is (finally?) paying attention to it. It's been breaking my heart reading about these one after another in such a short span of time. It's been reminding me of my own friend who ended his life 12 years ago because of the homophobia he received from his parents and kids at school.
