Obama's benefits to partners of gay federal employees doesn't include health care or retirement bene

So yesterday, in an effort to shut up placate the angry homos by throwing us some token progress (better than nothing, mind you, and still progress, but nothing hugely significant), President Obama extended benefits to the same-sex partner of federal employees. Today? We find out that it doesn't even include health benefits or retirement benefits. A glimmer of hope...and then more disappointment.

This, mind you, while he's trying to push through health care reform to insure those who don't have coverage.

What a fucking joke. I was willing to give some kudos yesterday, but with this news, it makes it seem like a shell to get a positive headline without really making a move for equality. An improvement, sure, but it feels like window dressing. If he were serious about equality, same-sex partners would get ALL the same benefits that opposite sex partners receive, not a watered-down version.

Maybe it shouldn't - it is positive, I guess - but it feels like a slap in the face to me because it seems so cynical. If health care is such a big deal, why don't gay families get the same coverage straight families do? It just seems so empty.

equality, frustrating, obama, wtf
