Poll finds majority of New Yorkers support marriage equality

A new poll from Siena has found that 53% of New York State residents support gay marriage, while 39% oppose it. In 2007, the numbers were 43% in favor and 47% opposed, and 46-40% in 2008. So the trend is in our favor.

This is great news, especially as Gov. Paterson pushes legislation legalizing gay marriage. However, as we've seen, polls ultimately mean nothing and may not even be accurate (look at Prop 8 polls). And of course, things can happen. Still, it's a heartening sign that real progress is being made.
