Hi, I'm new...

Hi, I'm Marauder, and I just found out about this place from...somebody mentioning it on harvey_milk, I think? (I have ADD and my meds wore off fifteen minutes ago.) Anyway, it looks like a fun and interesting place so I joined.

I'm a first-year law student from Minnesota, although I went to law school largely because I have no marketable skills except writing, and you don't get paid while you're writing a novel. I'm bisexual and I've been with Mr. Marauder, my boyfriend, for six years. I've never actually dated a girl (am a girl); I met Mr. Marauder when we were teenagers and we're getting married once we both finish school.

I tried to start a GSA in high school, but it didn't work because the administration claimed that "we don't have those problems here" ("those problems" being issues gay people face, not being gay itself) and said anyone who was "struggling" could talk to the counselor. I was the one and only openly non-straight person in the school, though it was a small-ish private school so that's not quite as dire as it sounds. I know of at least five people from who came out, like, the second they graduated.

I'm kind of a "gay fictional couples" junkie; I love talking about Brokeback Mountain and Maurice and At Swim, Two Boys and The Front Runner and Luke and Noah on As the World Turns. For whatever reason, I haven't found nearly as many female ones I love, though I do love Sue and Maud in Fingersmith and Annie and Liza in Annie On My Mind. I'm also kind of a Harvey Milk nerd, or, as I like to say, "highly lactated". My original book series that I'm writing is about a fictional royal family, which has several non-straight members. I've been in Harry Potter online fandom since 2002 and I've written loads of slash fics, mostly Sirius Black/Remus Lupin. (I also have a wizard rock band that just released an album called Slash Bash, if anyone is interested...link on my user info!)

So, yeah, as you might be able to tell, I also really like to talk. :D Hi!
