Brief update
worked a lot this week. 60+ hours, about 30 at each job. entertained the parental units, which was nice, but tiring. mother talks a lot. i'm kind of used to plenty of alone time. it was still good to see them, though.
i bought, perhaps on impulse, perhaps not, a 1997-98 Fender Stratocaster for 300$. it came with an amp, stand, soft case and strap as well. before i called the person who had posted the ad, i consulted one of the bar's regular patrons on the matter, as he is an avid collector and a virtual encyclopedia of guitar knowledge. he gave me a list of questions to ask, and inspected it before money changed hands. he even offered to buy it off of me if/when i grew out of it. not likely, as she is just a joy to play. sounds great and i'm teaching myself a lot. granted, i'm still working through all of the chords and their variations, but i'm finding that it's much easier than the acoustic i was trying to learn on.
i've been writing lyrics regularly. sometimes they even wake me up, and Absolutely Have To Write Them Down Right Now or I'll Totally Forget In the Morning.
It's good but frustrating, as i can hear the music, but i don't yet have the tools/skills to capture it. i will continue to work hard at it. i get the feeling it will marinate until i have everything/skill/theory in place.
my fingers are callousing and i am feeling content.
