Mississippi's Proposition 26, which would have criminalized miscarriage, was defeated! The margin was narrow-- only 55% to 45%-- but at least the right side won for now. Maybe that close call will light a fire under the "oh, nothing that extreme will happen here" crowd and lead to stronger mobilization against future attempts to push through ( Read more... )

I just got an e-mail from denelian, also known as Liz of the save_liz comm. She's been very tired lately because of medication issues, but she's getting that sorted out now. She wanted me to let other people know, especially kansan_entrails.

Okay, I went out to buy groceries, and there were two middle school-aged kids having a conversation beside the magazine racks.

Loud kid: Who's to blame? I blame BP. Most of us do.

Quiet kid: *lengthy response spoken too softly for me to make out words*

Loud kid: Then the government was stupid.

Due to unfortunate circumstances with changing prescriptions, save_liz has been reopened. Kansan Entrails is offering more cute art! But the badger plushie is MINE! *laughs maniacally*

Health insurance reform passed. The bill is a long way from perfect or even what I'd consider good. Even so, it's better than what we've had up until now.
