It occurs to me that this is at least the second time that Jezefail has posted an article written by a man that shames women for labeling creepy guys as creepy. I know because I posted about it before. Apparently, someone at Jezebel is concerned about making sure that every site on the internet is safe for neckbeards.
All things considered, I think flipping all the tables forever is quite a reasonable response!
Sometimes I feel slightly ashamed of myself for still thinking about and worrying about and getting angry about Hugo's behavior and other people's attempts to make excuses for him. Then I remember that I'm not reacting to them STILL, I'm reacting to them AGAIN. Because it's not as if Hugo stopped speaking on behalf of the class of people he repeatedly abused or stopped telling women how to dress when in the presence of men, act around men, talk about men, talk to men, feel about men, and have sex with men. It's not as if he went away or decided to change the focus of his work to telling men how to avoid making the same mistakes he made. No, he keeps writing about what women must be thinking and feeling and how women should worry more than they already do about what men think/feel, again and again. And I keep finding this grossly inappropriate again and again.
