Okay. Dragon and I went this afternoon, and.... Guys, it's kind of like the First Knight problem all over again.
This is a passable '50s/early '60s spy movie. But to enjoy it, you're going to have to ignore the character names.
It's not Man from UNCLE. The tone's wrong. The back-stories for Solo and Kuryakin are.... problematic and I have trouble with the characterization on both. Serious, serious problems on Kuryakin in particular, but Solo too.
The movie is scenic, it's only got minor plot hole problems, Cavill and Hammer are pretty, and it's slashy as fuck. I mean, seriously, the jokes in this are pre-slashed for convenience. Hell, it easily passed the Bechdel test. But yeah. If you're an old fan of the show*, I suspect it will strike you wrong. If they had called it The First UNCLE Affair, renamed Cavill and Hammer's characters, and put this over as 'this is how UNCLE was established'? It'd be a fairly good movie, if too serious for the series. Unfortunately, they didn't.
* -- Disclaimer: I'm a more recent fan of the series, am still working my way through the DVDs and have not seen them all. That said, I'm still disappointed.
This is of course solely my opinion; your mileage may vary.
