First lines writing meme

Gacked off Tumblr:  List the first lines of your last twenty stories. See if you find any patterns.

1. If he hadn't already known he was in Miami from the heat, the humidity, the press of people, and the afternoon thunderstorms, Hardison would have known he was there because where else would he find a drink called the Bay of Pigs?

2.  August in Paris is hot, hot enough that most who can leave, do.

3.  His pulse hammered through his body, thumping in his bound fingertips and feet.

4.  Matthew,

Fine.

5.  Darcy looked up from her laptop and pulled out her ear buds in time to hear her boss ask, "Tell me you didn't do what I could swear this report says you did?"

6.  Another immortal moved across her senses, but Hadassah kept her face turned to her book.

7.  Audrey made it most of the way to the station before she got the text message from Duke, if you could call 'zddftt78' a message.

8.  Golden sand, aqua water, green and tan palm trees, silver shimmers along the tops of the waves rolling steadily onto the beaches -- Bora-Bora was peace and quiet, downright blissful compared to some of the trouble still roiling the planet even ten years after the end of World War II.

9.  It was a remarkably good dark beer, up to even his old standards, and Methos had just seen a steak sandwich go by that looked as good as the beer.

10.  Gregor rubbed his forehead and studied the cash box again.

11.  I hate flights out of O'Hare, Mulder bitched silently and irritably to himself.

12.  Jensen bought that round, still grinning.

13.  "Well?"

14.  "Yeah, yeah, just a guy, got it."

15.  Peter came out of the car already evaluating the scene and giving orders.

16.  'Good whisky' was a severe understatement, really -- almost an insult to the drink.

17.  Gregor ignored the blood on his sleeves since it was dry enough not to get on the keyboard and the table needed to be scrubbed now anyway.

18.  You can learn a lot of things in 13 weeks of boot, 3 months in Vietnam, and 40 years of Watching immortals.

19.  "It's not that I'm not grateful," Steve started to say, eyes still watching the shop windows.

20.  The alarm system didn't go off because the five intruders materialized inside the house rather than breaking in.

I think I'm amused. I don't see many similarities.  Certainly nothing across even five, much less all twenty.  Anyone else see something I missed?
