Fandom Snowflake Challenge, days 3-5

Jan 12, 2012 17:08

::cheerful:: Some of this is only technically late. I'm late posting it, not doing it.

Day 3

Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before.  It doesn't have to be anything complex - it can be feedback for a fanwork or discussing something you might have in common or even simply admiring their icon. The point is to reach out to someone you normally wouldn't and connect with them, even if it's only for the briefest moment.

Day 4

Introduce yourself to someone you admire and friend/follow them on whatever platform you use - journal or Twitter or Tumblr or whatever.

Day 5

In your own space, share something non-fannish you are passionate about with your fannish friends. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I love history (most of y'all know that) but my non-fiction reading slowed down when I started running low on spoons, damn it. That said, I'm currently cheerfully reading up on Regency era history, and the annotated Sherlock Holmes, and looking into a few things during WWII.

I love labyrinths and go walk some of the ones here in town when I can, or when I'm working through a problem, or stuck in a plot. I am firmly convinced that you can make a good case for labyrinths (Chartres layout) as a form of novel structure.

I have a vast and wildly disparate collection of stuffed animals, all with names, some with decided personalities. A lot of them I bought, no few were gifts, and we have everything from dragons and gryphons (the newest one is an ice dragon) to cats, great cats (don't ask how big Ramirez is; that's Shrewreader and Alysswolf's doing), bears of several types including panda, wolves (also a couple huge ones; we have Dief, Fen, and Baker), a unicorn, a mouse, a reindeer with silver lame hooves and horn (madly cute), a fox or two, a dolphin, an otter,a snowy owl, a roadrunner (yes, really)... you get the idea. ::amused> So I live in a house full of books, music, movies, and instant cuddle company, even if Dragon's off at karate or I'm off at ballet.

For that matter, I love hiking the Wolf River here, or the Smokies when we're on vacation, around Hot Springs when we head that way. Of course, I've gotten older and now like my hotel room with hot shower after the hiking. ::amused:: My days of camping and finding a nearby site that'll sell shower space are probably over.

Three more days tomorrow, I think. I'll be catching up until this thing is done on the 15th, at this rate...
