Joe question -- answered
For reasons I'm not going into at this junction (but hope you'll eventually like): does anyone have any rough idea how long it would take, during Vietnam, for Joe to go from private to (a very green) lance corporal? Me, I'm off to research how long it took to get done at Parris Island marine boot at that time period (San Diego for Joe, since he enlisted from Chicago). I have no idea if they sped up boot or not. (It's the Marines; I'm thinking not, but we'll see.)

ETA: So far, I know Joe would have been sent to San Diego, not Parris Island; it's 13 weeks now for boot which matches the reminiscences I found of a guy who went through Parris Island in final quarter of '68. Now I just have to figure out how long the two promotions to lance corporal might have taken in '67/68.
