Now I just need a flower icon... The peacock'll do just fine for now. Time to look around at icons, though, and make sure I update the ones on LJ with the same key phrase. Whee!! Hi, guys!

And for anyone who was wondering: I will be crossposting content to LJ. What you see here, you will get there. Feel free to defriend on either side (I'm

I love the peacock icon. It wouldn't bother me to get rerouted to Dreamwidth for comments. Either way you did it would be fine. I am glad you're cross posting though.

::snickering:: Your icon is hilarious!! And oh, yeah, I'll be crossposting. Don't want to lose people. (Here, have another icon by the same person...)

No way did I have the money for a seed account (and won't have it next month either) but am paid up for a year and delirious to be in on the ground floor as it were! As to comments, here there and everywhere, personally I thought I'd wait 6 months and see how things pan out before I decide what to do (like letting my paid account here lapse to basic)

But I'm Boji on DW too & have just sub'd you.

I've been saving money for it for about a year now. And yeah, I'm really enjoying being in on the start up of this. I've been on LJ for... lady bless, almost eight years now? Damn! And cool, always good to see your icon!

:::sigh::: Could you give a quick lesson on *what* Dreamwidth is, and *why*? I feel like I missed a key memo somewhere.... why are we doing this, again? I just got the whole LJ thing down last year, and suddenly half of the people I read are decamping. And following the link it looks like I can't even get an account there unless someone invites me or I pay - but are we supposed to pay without even knowing if it's something that will work for us? It's a little blackmail-y to me - pay, or lose access to the stories, like or lump it.

As someone who checks 4 email addresses and an LJ per day - and who ran screaming from Facebook the first time it crashed my computer - I am so loathe to have to add yet ~another~ time suck to the day.

:::double sigh::: Call me a luddite, but I miss the simple days when Yahoogroups (or Onelist!) was all there was.... it was SO much easier to keep track of you writer-types when you were mostly all in one place. :-)

Okay. Dreamwidth is based on the open source LJ code, but it fixed a lot of things and it's being run by people, not a corporate board. It's fixing big things and small, everything from clicking comments actually taking you to comments, not the top of the post, to revamping the photo journal system to make sense (not out yet).

You can't get an account there without an invite code, but you *can* read there without logging in, and you can comment anonymously or through your LJ account. You sign in under Open ID (one of the three options), give your LJ name (singletailwhip.livejournal.com) and approve when it asks if it can contact LJ to confirm you exist. OpenID at Dreamwidth allows you to verify your email and then you can upload six icons (same as a free LJ or DW account) and set up a reading page there of people you want to track.

And, all that said, I'm still going to be posting fic to the Eyrie Notos list, so you won't miss them if you don't want to mess with DW. I do have invite codes left if you need one, though.

Thank you for asking the question. I had *exactly* the same question.

And exactly the same feeling about it all.

Am really hoping I can just stick with LJ and stick my head back in the sand.

I can see why Dreamwidth is better than LJ, but I am not sure why it is *so* much better than LJ that I would want to put in all the effort to move over...

::laughing:: I can find some links that help explain it if you'd like?

And I'm not leaving LJ. I'll be crossposting between the two, at the least. One of the things I like about DW is that it makes it easy to crosspost, and to import so I don't have to leave (or worry about losing) 8 years of posts.

And {{hugs}} Good to hear form you!
