And now the health update. Well, Monday, my rheumatologist said, "Yeah, I'd say you have fibro." ::shrugs:: May be a final diagnosis, may be 'this is what it looks like this year,' but okay. I finally have a name, and I can start researching it and working out how to cope with it to start and maybe drive it into remission if I'm lucky. And there are some silver linings to this, definitely. Fibromyalgia doesn't seem to be degenerative like lupus or R.A., just painful. Massage and accupuncture frequently help a lot and Dragon's great at massage. Anti-depressants can help if the pain gets out of hand for too long and I start thinking I can't win. And there's a lot of info out there on it, so I'm slowly starting to research it.
Oh, and last silver lining -- I finally have a name for this thing that I can give my family and they can look up. I hope this helps. There's a lot of things they do well, but accepting that I have a chronic illness that doesn't cope well with heat and stress... isn't on the list. (The last time I tried talking to them, they managed to translate auto-immune disorder into AIDS and freaked. ::headdesk:: No, I have something that's 180 degrees away from that. An over-enthusiastic/under-smart immune system.)
And, all that said, my plans for today are to hide in the AC from the 100+ base and heat index temps, and do some writing. I have a Carl snippet in mind that may even cross with Indiana Jones to my surprise, and I wanted to write a Cory snippet, too. Is anyone else going to watch the new Flash Gordon series Friday, or is that just me? (I strongly suspect I'm the only one who's now looking around for the new release, lots of goodies included, cheesy '80s Flash Gordon DVD.) Oh, well. Eureka's been good, Flash starts Friday, and Blood Ties may yet be renewed. Hope everyone else is doing well!
