I know that collectors are used to evasive answers, but when she asks me three times if [name removed], and gets "No, sorry," twice, and the third time I point out, "We've only had this number since May; your information may be out of date..." That is *not* the time to give me a patronizing attitude and, "Oh. Right," in a tone that says, 'you're lying but I can't prove it yet.'
Grrr.
Also, just for any of the writers out there... the stereotypical beer- (and barbecue-) bellied county sheriff's deputy so beloved of Hollywood, with the cropped hair, and gun on his belt, and shirt straining over a belly as wide from spine to navel as his shoulders are point to point, arrogant and blocking the road? Still exists, as of 1 PM or so my time. No longer then norm, thank goodness*, but still exists.
* Well, not in TN. Points further South, deponent knoweth not. Lum? Killa?
