Yeah, I know, PotC was on Sunday night; blame Cap'n Jack.
Anyway. In no order at all.
Am I the only one who thinks R.A.B. was Regulus Black?
And I'm a little... startled. To put it mildly. Felix felicis requires six months to brew. Slughorn had been on the run, staying in Muggle houses a week at a time, by his account and Dumbledore's apparent endorsement of the story (asking whose house it was). But there was a finished cauldron of the stuff on the first day of classes. So... who brewed it? Dumbledore, or Snape? I'm not buying that Slughorn did. But then the next question is, *why* did one of them brew a cauldron full of luck? And where did the rest of it go? Harry only got a small vial.
Nice to see Rowling doing some stuff in 3rd person, too, rather than solely through Harry's POV. I can see why she's been wanting to write that first chapter for *years* now.
I'm sure I'll have other thoughts later, but those were the main ones. And, non-spoiler, I loved this book, not least because it felt like a novel, rather than a collection of necessary events stuffed between endpapers. (What can I say? I disliked OotP and have been unable to reread it.)
Off to run an errand and go write. I have this appalled suspicion, however, that I'm going to try to cross X-Files with Big Trouble In Little China if I don't come up with a better idea. So I'm off to look for a better idea. Hmm. Right. Next entry.
