I can't be the only one who wants to read something less fraught than the daily news, so I'll mention a few nice things.
On my walk this morning I went by the ten-foot high boxwoods (I've seen the guys trimming them; it takes ladders leaning on the bushes, and these chainsaw-looking devices, and looks horribly hazardous) and realized that honeysuckle has grown in and through them and is now blooming. It smelled lovely.
The 30 foot high cedar has, once again, turned into a summer Christmas tree. Years ago, someone trained a rose bush up and over the tree, and every summer there are red roses in the middle of dark green cedar needles -- fifteen and twenty feet off the ground. Gorgeous.
And
alysswolf found out this morning that her cat does *not* have kidney failure. The cat has a kidney infection, but that's not nearly the same. Thank goodness.
Here endeth the cheerful stuff, for the moment.
