How could you do this to me?? I thought you liked me! You had to tell me to watch this, didn't you? ::whimpering piteously:: I don't need a new fandom! ARRGH!

It's all your fault, kickair8p!

Damn. New fandom. ::sigh::

How did I miss this the first time around, anyway?

I saw you mention Twin Peaks-watching in a previous post, and said to myself "Uh-oh....."

OMG, that chat was early in 2002! And they *still* haven't gotten season 2 out on DVD yet, so you better have it on some other media or I'm in *real* trouble. (Fortunately, you don't know where I live. Not exactly, anyway. ::g:: )

And it's *not* all my fault -- quoting from the chat log:
Rhi Chaosium (1:14:16 PM): oooh! Cool! Will have to buy 'em. Always *wanted* to see 'em, you see.

Not *all* my fault.....::snerk::

So, do you have the Twin Peaks movie "Fire Walk With Me?" And if you do, did you watch it before you started the series, or are you waiting till after?

Right now, I'm not writing Twin Peaks either (not even that epic crossover thing) because it's stalled. I've started writing again after over a year's dry spell, but I'm now writing in two anime fandoms (Trigun and Weiss Kruez -- somebody shoot me now, please!). They were snail-mailed to me to pimp the fandoms, and the next thing I know I'm Muse-vaded. And I know better than to argue with Muses, yes indeedy! (But the CaspianMuse and the FarfarelloMuse are getting along *way* too well.....::sigh:: ) I'm hoping once I've got the anime plot-bunnies put to bed, I'll be able to write the Highlander/dueSouth/TwinPeaks/etc stuff again.

I just watched eps. 1-4, then went and rented eps. 5-8 & Fire Walk With Me. Have no access (yet) to the pilot (eep!) or the second season. ::sigh:: Amazon's gonna get rich.... How many eps per season?

And of course I blame you. It is your fault. ;->

By the way? Is it just me or is Dale Cooper A. some wild-ass blend of Mulder and Fraser, and B. stranger than suspenders on a snake?

Good luck on finding anything with the second season -- VHS is out of print (and was bad in the first place), and DVD isn't out yet (mid-2005, maybe). Your best bet is to borrow them from somebody who had the forsight to tape them when Bravo was airing them a couple of years ago (not me, sorry -- and boy, am I).

The pilot's out in two versions -- the one you don't want was recut as an independent movie, and contradicts series canon (not that it's bad, just confusing). The one that you do want is here ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005V54S/qid=1089349691/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-4907992-4950514?v=glance&s=dvd ).

Re # of eps, this from the FAQ (see below)

E1. How many episodes are there?

There are:

- the 2-hour pilot movie
- seven 1-hour episodes in the first season
- 22 episodes in the 2nd season--the first one being 2 hours
long, all others being one hour long (in the US, the last
two episodes were broadcast together as a 2-hour special
"movie" on ABC)--for a total of 23 hours
- 32 hours total

By the way? Is it just me or is Dale Cooper A. some wild-ass blend of Mulder and Fraser, and B. stranger than suspenders on a snake?

a) IMHO, neither X-Files nor due South would've aired if Twin Peaks hadn't gotten there first (there's a long-running thread somewhere on alt.tv.twin-peaks that details everything Carter "borrowed" from TP), so you could argue that Mulder and Fraser are both sub-sets of Dale Cooper -- at minimum, they're clearly inspired by him (and yeah, I've got characters noting the similarities when McCormick and Fraser hit Twin Peaks).

b) Oh, yeah. No question. Cute, though. ::g::

Several decent TP references (spoilers abound, of course) :

www.twinpeaks.org (especially http://www.twinpeaks.org/faqtop.htm )
www.glastonberrygrove.net -- Lovely site, if a bit slow-loading. Informative, too -- has both scripts and transcripts of most eps so you can fill in the gaps if you want.
www.dugpa.com -- not my favorite, but has the most recent updates.

Just an FYI, there's a rumor out that not only will Season 2 be on on DVD next year, but Season 1 will be re-released with the Pilot included. ::cheerful:: at which point, I'll buy 'em. But *lord* Cooper is strange! Fun, but strange. The whole thing realy is.

Thank you for all the links!

Yes. Yes, he is.

If you'd like a little more insight into the Strangeness of D.B. Cooper, you might wanna read The Autobiography of F.B.I. Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes. This has minimal spoilers (mostly for the second season) -- you might find it best to read this after S2 comes out on DVD, right before watching.
