Yet another question from the American

There's a surname I've seen in Dorothy Sayers' books but have never seen (or, more to the point, heard) in the States. How *do* you pronounce 'Gotobed'? (The sexton in The Nine Tailors, I believe, and also a pair of maids in Unnatural Death?) Thanks!

Edited to correct my spelling. I didn't used to switch homophones while typing. How very odd....
