Irish Whiskey...

During Rainna and Chris’ birthday at Sean Cumming’s Irish Pub the topic of Irish whiskey came up with the Owner Mr. Cumming’s who invited us all out for a tasting.
The following weekend Jeremy, Alexander, Patrick and I journeyed to this lovely little pub and were dropped here by my wife and Deb.
The girls left on errands while we started our enterprise with the first pours. The first couple of shots were shooting whiskeys. I was surprised at the differences in each of the liquors, they had definite notes to them and Sean was very versed in each with a small story to share.
Sean was from the KC area and ad a lot of tales to share regarding the Irish populace in that region. One memorable story was in reference to Jameson I believe, apparently Jameson is a protestant brew, and several of his potential clientele would not grace his pub in that area till he got rid of the ‘baby-killer whiskey’. He said they were hardcore IRA folk.
We started drinking and all order Guinness to clear our palate and allow us to drink deep as we started our way through the 14 different whiskeys.
After the 5th shot I had to order some fish & chips, which were as hot as the center of the sun, but very tasty and took the edge off my buzz and allowed me to continue on with my brethren.
At about the 8th or 9th shot we graduated from plastic shot glasses to glass giving us the impression the hooch had reached a level of respect and refinement.
At the 14 shot Alexander committed a severe foul and dropped his glass spilling the contents everywhere. Sean took care of the Czech bastard [he’s only half Irish ] and set him back up.
The food was awesome, the service incredible and a cool experience I’d highly recommend… They have entertainment regularly and the environment is too cool.

Here are the 14 shots we had:
1. Fekin
2. Tullamore Dew
3. Three Swallows/Powers
4. Kilbeggen
5. Jameson
6. Bushmills
7. Bushmills Black Bush
8. Bushmills 16
9. Clontarf
10. Clontarf Single
11. Red Breast
12. Knappogue
13. Irshman
14. Michael Collins
