In Massachusetts (and Maine for historical reasons), the 3rd Monday of every April is Patriots' Day, a state holiday meant to commemorate the first battles of the Revolutionary War.
For me, at least, this meant that classes were canceled, a nice consolation given the amount of work I've had to do lately. It left me only with a meeting and a practice talk today, both of which went well, thankfully.
But yeah, it's been a rough few weeks, and I am anxiously anticipating the end of the semester. The amount of shit I will need to do between now and then will be somewhat mind-boggling, but the only way to get out from under the burden is to work my way through it.
I'm off to WCCFL in Tucson this week, where I am presenting a poster, as I mentioned a few posts ago. It will be nice to get away, but it couldn't come at a worse time, since I will need to be giving presentations on papers I haven't written yet as soon as I get back. But I will be trying to ignore all that. The talks will hopefully be good, and it will be fun to go exploring, and, hey,
mintyfreshsocks will be there too, so all the better (thank. fuck.).
