The "Do Nothing" Theory

Oct 11, 2006 10:23

This is a theory cooked up by the LSF group at uni, but the accredited thinker is Andrew (can't remember his last name).

The title is missleading. It's hard to argue with!

__The Do Nothing Theory__

Due to its relevance to everything and the fact that it hasn't died the natural death of most dud theories, I have been forced by its accuracy and usefulness to scribe down some of the main points that make up this theory.

- This theory doesn’t say we have to do nothing, merely that we don’t have to do anything. -

The basis for this theory comes from the following bible verses;

Ephesians Ch2: vs. 8&9;
“For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast”

This verse sums up the do nothing theory.
The other important part of the do nothing theory is that if God has a plan for our lives;
(Ephesians Ch1: vs. 11; “In Him we were chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.”)

Therefore if God chooses us to do something he will give us the correct circumstances for it to happen. The do nothing theory is there to allow God a clean slate, a black black-board, a white white-board, an empty pad, a formatted hard-drive, a clean window for him to work with. The Do Nothing theory allows us to not try and work for salvation as this is impossible.

The following verses can be used to support this theory:

Psalm 33;11
Proverbs 19;21
Romans 3;24
Galatians 1;15
Ephesians 4;7
1Timothy 1;13
Titus 2;11
Romans 5;9
