Summary: With bad timing of epic proportion, Buffy waits until Angel and Cordy have gotten together before asking Spike to go back to Rome with her. 950 words.
Author’s Note: This is a snippet of an argument between Spike and Buffy in my post-NFA verse, in which the PTB have brought Cordelia back to life as a reward

Ugh! That's a good ugh. I love the way you make Buffy open herself up to others. It's just so believable and in-character, and it's so rarely, rarely done. Great ficlet.

:D Thank you! I like to think that after "Chosen" Buffy would realize all the opportunities she wasted by closing herself off and become a more open person as a result. I'm very glad it's believable!

I love that you deal with the fact that Buffy is rarely (in the series) allowed a regular relationship that works. I love having a dialogue in which Buffy acknowledges that there's work involved and that she and Spike have a shot. I *also* love that Buffy acknowledges that the fuzzy-happy-dream Angel that happened when she was 16 couldn't happen again, it's a really hard thing to deal with and you did a fantastic job.

Conclusion: love it!
