Meta I posted on Tumblr last night that was inspired by this gifset, or Why S10 Is The Perfect Time To Bring Back Bela Talbot:
Everyone is thoroughly spoiled already about Dean right? )

Oh, I LOVE your ideas for bringing Bela back. I agree with so much/everything you said. If they were ever to bring Bela back (which they should) this would be the perfect time to do. And your reasoning is so sound and so perfect.

Wouldn't it just be amazing? The parallels and the differences. The hatred she would feel at the idea that she had to claw her way out of hell and not only had he been saved once, but when he was eventually turned, it was of his own doing (in a way) and that he was stronger than her, despite how much longer she spent in the pit. And just-basically a big fat yes to everything you said. Only you said it better. I think you should be writing the show.

The only thing they would need is an actress to pull of demon!bela as well as Lauren Cohen did. Like really study her. Obviously she would be different, but still, I'd really love if they could get someone that could capature her essence. or lauren cohen, but you know...

Also, I'm not on tumblr, but I agree. Doesn't really seem like a thing to need to warn for. It doesn't even call out John by name, so I feel like John fans shouldn't just stumble upon it thinking "oh yay a john post". I personally like your comparisons/meta. XD

Thank you! :D

The hatred she would feel

Aaaaagh I just want it sfm. Like, she would hate his guts, but she's nothing if not a survivor/self-preservationist, so I think if she saw some way to gain from it, she would work for him anyway, all the while plotting how to eventually take revenge. And from the spoilers, it sounds like Demon!Dean doesn't care about anything, so I think instead of wanting to kill her for vengeance like normal!Dean might*, Demon!Dean wouldn't give a shit about their past enmity and would find it amusing to have her work for him. Why waste an incredible resource like Bela (who would doubtlessly have made a reputation for herself by tracking down all sorts of useful relics and being an excellent crossroads saleswoman) when he could use her talents for his own purposes? So they'd be a ruthlessly efficient and effective boss/subordinate team, and they'd have tons of fantastic hate!sex, but all the while Bela would be plotting to destroy him, and Dean would guess this and be ready to kill her the instant she made her move.

And despite themselves they would grow fond of each other, and after Dean was cured Bela would think it was a shame and while she wouldn't trade her new throne for anything, she would miss the consort she could have had, and Dean would hate himself for the things he did as a demon but he also wouldn't be able to bring himself to hunt Hell's new queen, and when they eventually did come face to face, both would try to persuade the other to their side to no avail ("Come back to Hell, darling. Please." / "I could cure you- please, let us cure you."), and eventually they'd wind up in bed again and when they woke in each other's arms both would think to themselves, I should kill him/her, but neither would be able to, and they'd part and wonder, What have I just done?

* (Although my headcanon is that Bela was the First Seal and so normal!Dean would actually feel incredibly guilty and reluctant to kill her.)

I think I would cry from happiness if Lauren Cohan returned as Bela. I don't know why I'm so reluctant to see another actress play Bela when we've seen successful transitions before with Meg and Ruby. I think it's partly b/c LC is so well known for TWD now that fans might be more receptive to Bela if LC played her than another actress and b/c Bela was treated so badly the first time around (I can't imagine how painful the fan hatred and rejection must have been for LC) that I want her to have another chance for a better experience. But it wouldn't be better b/c fandom still sucks and the writers are still misogynistic, so she's better off on TWD. Sigh.

Aaaaaah I have to babble a bit more b/c what about this other scenario for demon!Bela/demon!Dean-

Demon!Bela is incredibly wary of Demon!Dean b/c he hated her in life and tortured her in Hell. In truth, Demon!Dean doesn't give a rat's ass about little old Bela Talbot anymore, but Bela doesn't know that, so when she interacts with him in Hell, she always looks like her 14-year-old self and calls herself Selina (for Catwoman). Dean grows sympathetic toward/protective of her when she tells him the truth about her deal, which she feels comfortable doing with this new anonymity (I figure even heartless Demon!Dean would feel moved by her story, the same way that apparently in jail even the most cold-blooded murderers hate pedophiles and child killers). Dean quickly learns to appreciate the little brat's resourcefulness and talents at thievery and manipulation. "Selina" teaches him about Hell, since he's powerful but not experienced, and he comes to see her as both a mentor of sorts and his protoge. He feels uncomfortable cognitive dissonance because she looks like a child, so he feels protective of her, but he knows she's actually an adult, and he suspects that if she looked like her adult self, he'd reallllly want to fuck her. No matter how much he tries to convince her, though, Selina refuses to look like an adult. Dean knows that Sam is on his tail and having grown extremely fond of Selina, he makes it clear to his minions that if something happens to him, Selina is his heir.

Fast forward to after Dean is cured: He learns that Bela is queen (and has regained her original body using the same spell Abaddon used to restore Josie's body), and any guilt and reluctance to kill her that he might have felt b/c she was the First Seal is overshadowed by the rage/heartbreak he feels that she must have killed Selina to secure the throne. He convinces Sam to help him, and they storm Bela's stronghold while she's holding court. Bela is very nonplussed that Dean wants to kill her until she realizes why, and then she says it's very sweet. Cue a very confused Dean, who doesn't understand why Bela is looking at him like he's adorable. Bela starts interrogating him about what his intentions toward Selina would be if she were her adult self ("Would you want to take her to dinner? Romantically or as friends?"). Dean gets very flustered and says why does it matter, she's dead, you killed her, etc, but Bela won't let it go. Eventually Sam cottons on to who Bela really is. Dean finally says yes, he would ask her to dinner, and Bela says, "All right. You can pick me up at 7." Dean is flummoxed, Sam is trying not to laugh, and Bela finally says, "Dean, I didn't kill anyone. I got my body back. But it's very sweet of you to try to avenge me. I have to get back to work now. Pick me up at 7. Wear something nice." And she kisses him on the cheek and pushes him out the door. Dean stammers, "W-what just happened?", and sniggering, Sam answers, "You just got a date with the queen of Hell."
