First Kiss

The party was still going on downstairs; Lea could hear the bangs and whizzes of various magical fireworks, and singing from some of the rowdier Gryffindors. Isa had disappeared to their dorm shortly after midnight, and when Lea realised he was gone, he followed after him.

He found Isa lay back on his bed, shoes kicked off, and Lea's Christmas present to him held up in the air. It was a game console, and while it wouldn't work in Hogwarts, it would outside of it. Isa seemed to be examining it.

Lea climbed onto the bed next to him, and Isa silently shuffled over before he spoke; “Do you think if I do some magic on it, it'll break it?”

Lea looked at the hand-held console, and then at Isa. “I dunno,” he said, “what do you want to do to it?”

“The instructions say I can use it to play against a friend if I have an internet connection. I was thinking of a spell to let it connect to one, even though I don't have one. I've already looked at a spell to ensure the battery never runs out on it,” he frowned, “since we don't have elecicki-- 'lectricki--”

“Electricity?”

“Yes.”

Lea shrugged, and then draped himself over Isa, arm over his chest, and head on his shoulder. “You can try it? I can always buy you another one.”

Isa looked at Lea, and then put the console down. “Thanks,” he said, “for the game thing.”

“You already said that,” Lea pointed out, grinning a little. He was comfortable, and couldn't be bothered to move. “You not up to partying tonight?” He asked, changing the subject.

Isa shook his head. “Not in the mood.”

“But you're all right?” Lea checked, one eyebrow raised. Isa only nodded, and then wriggled down into the bed a little more comfortably. “You're quiet,” Lea pointed out, “even for you.”

“Just thinking,” Isa replied.

“About what?” Lea asked, when Isa didn't seem about to divulge the information voluntarily.

Isa frowned, and looked up at the ceiling. “I heard some of the others talking about how they kissed their dates at the Yule Ball.” He looked quickly over at Lea again and asked, “Did you kiss Rikku?”

“Nuh uh,” Lea answered, shaking his head. “You didn't kiss Lisa either,” he pointed out.

“I know,” Isa replied. “I was just wondering what it's like. You're supposed to open the new year with a kiss,” he said, sounding distant and contemplative.

“You came up from a party to lie on your bed and think about kissing?” Lea stared at him, eyebrows raised. “You're such a freak, Isa.”

“Don't pretend you've never thought about it,” Isa countered. “We're getting a little old to have never been kissed.”

“No we're not,” Lea replied, dismissive and amused. “I bet Eye Twitch has never been kissed, and he's like, fifty, and Hojo has probably never been in the same room as anyone long enough to kiss them because he scares them off, and he's gotta be a hundred, at least!”

It made Isa laugh, which was the intention, and Lea lay draped over him, feeling his friend chuckle under his arm, and grinned in turn. “Besides,” he pointed out, “do you want to go out there and look for a girl to kiss? Getting dates for the ball was hard enough. How many girls do you think are going to sign up to swap spit with you?”

It earned him a punch in the ribs, and Lea groaned, rolling off Isa. “More than would do it with you; they probably think your lame is catching,” Isa replied, but the faint smile on his face showed there was no malice in it.

Lea fixed him with an exaggerated pout, and Isa responded by putting his hand over Lea's face and pushing him away. “I just wonder what it's like,” he said.

“Well, if you can't find a girl, you can always practice on me, got it memorised?” Lea rolled onto his back, grinning broadly, and folded his arms behind his head. He glanced at Isa a moment later to catch him looking thoughtful. “You didn't hit me for saying 'got it memorised',” he pointed out.

Isa punched him in the ribs again at the reminder, and then said, “You have a point.”

“What?” Lea asked, rubbing his side, and not expecting this turn of events.

“We're friends,” Isa pointed out, “and you're easier to convince than a girl, and it's not as though either of us are going to tell anyone.”

Lea stared at Isa for a moment, and then he shrugged, “Yeah, I guess.”

“Do you want to?”

Lea blinked, and then, in surprise, asked, “Now?”

“Why not?”

Lea laughed, but sat up, and pointed his wand at the curtains of his own bed, drawing them closed, “Just in case anyone else comes up and wonders where we've gone,” he said, and then he closed the curtains around Isa's bed as well. “At least they'll think we're in our own beds, instead of both in yours.”

“Unusually smart of you,” Isa replied.

“I can be smart!” Lea defended, and fixed Isa with another pout. “So how do you want to do this?”

“I don't know,” Isa said, “I've never done it before.”

“D'uh,” Lea responded, and then he shuffled as close to Isa as he could manage. “Close your eyes.”

“Why?”

“Because having you staring at me while we're kissing is creepy.”

“But I won't be able to see what I'm doing,” Isa pointed out, logically.

“Just close them.”

“Fine.” Isa did, and then Lea huffed and gathered himself before he closed his own eyes and leaned in.

His lips brushed Isa's, and his first thought was how warm it was. He closed his eyes, and tried to think about what he was doing, trying to turn his head so he could get Isa's lips properly. Unfortunately, Isa had the same idea, and their noses bumped, making them both pull away. Lea laughed, and then decided, “Okay, you stay still, I'll move.” Isa laughed quietly, his cheeks were already burning, and for a second Lea caught himself thinking that Isa looked cute.

He pushed that thought aside and leaned in again, pressing his lips to Isa's. They brushed lips gently for a little while before Lea felt Isa's tongue press against his bottom lip, and he started.

“Sorry!” He said, when Isa opened his eyes and wondered what was wrong this time. “I just,” he paused, and then flailed his hands and said, “all right, try again.”

The third time was more successful, and when Isa's tongue pressed forward again, Lea tentatively met it with his own. It was warm, and slippery, but didn't really taste of anything like he'd expected it would. It took a moment for Lea to realise that Isa's hand had slipped around his side and was pulling him closer, and his other hand was sliding into his hair.

It felt nice, and Lea gave a soft little murmur as he reciprocated. The run of Isa's tongue over his own was making him feel funny, in a good way, and he wondered if it was making Isa feel the same as he wound one arm around Isa's back and gently tugged him closer.

Just when he was starting to think he could get used to this, his teeth bumped against Isa's, sending sharp pain through them, and he pulled away sharply, wincing. Isa did the same, and covered his mouth.

“Nobody warned me about that,” he complained, from behind his hand.

Lea nodded. “Don't do that when you kiss a girl,” he said, and hoped he didn't look as funny as he felt, and that Isa wouldn't notice the distinct tightness in Lea's trousers.

Unbeknownst to Lea, Isa had much the same concerns, and he wriggled on the be until he could hide the problem effectively, and gave Lea a small smile through his blushes. “That wasn't so bad,” he said. “At least your breath doesn't smell.”

“My breath never smells!” Lea replied, and lay himself down on his front, propped up on his elbows to look at Isa. “It was okay, right?” He asked, in a moment of self consciousness.

“Yeah,” Isa answered, smiling faintly, and then covered it by saying, “when you weren't trying to knock my nose off my face,” with a brighter smile.

“Hey, you did the same to me,” Lea replied, and then stuck his tongue out.

Isa laughed. After a moment, Lea joined in.
