Summary: Lucius is forced to leave. This is is last night with his son. Inspired by Josh Groban's Lullaby.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucius just stood and watched his son sleeping peacefully. He knew that he had to leave soon. The problem was that he didn't want to leave, he had just gotten his son back into his life for Merlin's sake! Now they where being forced apart again.
"Damn this separation!" Lucius cursed under his breath trying not to wake his son.
'Why now? Why after he had just gotten his son back? Is this their punishment for serving the Dark Lord? Or had they just pissed off the wrong God?' he kept asking himself.
As he watched over his sons peaceful form he began softly singing, "Hush now baby don't you you cry, Rest your wings my butterfly, Peace will come to you in time, And I will sing this lullaby, Know though I must leave my child, That I would stay here by your side, And if you wake before I'm gone, Remember this sweet lullaby, And oh, through darkness, Don't you ever stop believing, With love alone, with love you'll find your way, My love, The world has turned the day to dark, I leave this night with heavy heart, When I return to dry your eyes, I will sing this lullaby, Yes I will sing this lullaby." As Lucius finished the song he couldn't help but remember how he used to sing that song in the past to help soothe his young Dragon. Lucius softly ran his fingers through Draco's silken hair, before turning and gently placing a letter on Draco's desk. With a resigned sigh he left the room, whipering "I love you son" as he quietly closed the door.

The next morning Draco awoke from a very vivid dream he'd had about his father. All that he could remember was the lullaby his father had sung to him when he was younger, although he had never heard it sung so sorrowfully before. As he rose from his bed he saw the letter on his desk and he knew that it hadn't been a dream after all. As a tear slowly slid down his face he understood that his father had gone, not by choice but he had gone. And he didn't know if or when he would be back.
